When we finally arrived in Orlando, it was 1:30am, Sunday morning, 26 hours after leaving Kuwait. I don’t think I’ve ever stayed awake for so long.
| Christopher decided to take a little snooze in Miami |
Our flight from Miami to Orlando with American Airlines was staffed by a geriatric flight crew. I sat in my seat, row 15, and watched the lone male flight attendant, stare straight at the cabin floor for 30 of the 36 minute flight. This guy was on the verge of falling asleep. Unbelievable! And if that wasn’t bad enough, the only currency exchange office located in our terminal, tried to rip me off by offering me the “worst” exchange rate (2.4) ever, for my Kuwaiti Dinars. The going rate is 3.5 to 1—3 American dollars equal 1 Kuwaiti Dinar. Bloody crooks!
This past week has been pretty busy. To start with, we’ve driven well over 1,100 miles in seven days time. Yeah, that’s some serious travelling. We came to see this place, and that’s exactly what we’re doing! I know every little back road in most of the Central Florida counties.
On Monday we explored the area in/around our vacation home. There are tons of little shops scattered all along the highways, eager to sell you tickets to any of the Disney theme parks, water parks and all the other tourists attractions this town has on offer. There are some good deals to be had; you just need to spend some time hunting them down. Mmm, and the oranges are o so good!
Tuesday was Kennedy Space Center day. Christopher told us he would like to be an astronaut one day. Wednesday and Thursday we travelled north to visit with family. On the way back to Orlando, instead of driving down Interstate 95 to Interstate 4, we took the scenic route, 1A1, which runs along the Atlantic coastline of Florida.
Below are several pictures from this past week. Thanks so much for taking time to read my blog!
Until next time....
Cheers!

Looks like a good time. It's been a ton of years since I've been to Orlando or Florida for that matter. Husband has family in that area but I've only seen them twice in the 20+ years we've been married. I would love to travel around the United States for my books but that's not happening right now. Hope you all enjoy the rest of your visit. If you do the Disney thing, definitely post pictures - thanks for sharing the first week - E :)

Christopher's so lucky he gets to explore so much. What I'd give to visit NASA while there are some astronauts left on the payroll! Hope it feels good to be home for a while. Thanks for posting.
It looks like you're having a blast on vacation (although you may need a second vacation by the time you return home!). I enjoyed your photos, especially the ones of the lighthouse. I'm a sucker for lighthouses!
I'm glad you're having a great time. Hope you have a safe trip home.
